Using Tropes As Inspiration

I was set to the task of creating a piece of media using tropes which I had to decide on myself. I decided to use wonder and confusion as the emotion which I would then incorporate into a song.

I used a minor chord progression and heavily applied EQ and delayed synths to create an atmosphere which give you the opportunity to feel but also leaves a lot of room for potential. I chose these tropes specifically because not many creative pieces these days - excluding film & TV scores - actually present the ability to feel without clearly stating what that emotion is you’re supposed to be feeling. That’s why not overcrowding the track with too many layers of instrumentation was essential, because I feel as though there is enough present to induce emotion yet not enough to direct your mind to what the outcome of affection should be.
